Animal Spiritual Meanings
Animal Medicine & Totems
As humans we have forgotten to listen to what’s around us, animals play a huge part, they have
medicine to share with us, they pass on messages to show us direction, warning or what may be
coming.
When I’m out and about, going on trips, and find birds, each bird I find has medicine to share
with me, even though they may become someone else’s tool. I sit with the medicine, sometimes the
answer doesn’t come to days later when it pops into mind and I see it in my mind sight.
I had a powerful trip lately down South recently- 3 wedgetail eagles, butterflys coming at the car
to only just miss, Blue Wren mated pair, Micro Bat then crows in 3’s o n way home, such potent
medicine to listen to and honour. Listen to their gifts.
Do you have a bird around you all the time? Have you been listening to what’s its trying to tell
you. Open your heart and feel into it, don’t go to a book, feel what your heart and soul are
singing to you about that animal. My indigenous girlfriend has taught me to listen for our own
medicine from the animals, how it walks with us every day.

inside. You may have a gift for working with flowers, maybe growing them to share with others,
or using flower essences for healing. Aroma therapy may be your calling. You have high energy

MOLE- Mole is a guide to the Underworld, to hidden treasures and mysterious places.
Fresh air is extremely important to a Mole person. Remember that Mole is a digger -- always
searching for his treasures which he ultimately finds. The Mole teaches us how to embrace faith.
As one of the few mammals that has evolved in the direction of giving away sight, and one of the
fewer that spends its life swimming through the sands blindly, in order to find nourishment, it
teaches us that sometimes faith is more important than what we can see and validate. Mole
teaches us very literally about how not knowing the future, and having faith that all will turn
out okay, is sometimes the best path we can take in our lives. Mole says 'let go of doubt, it's doing
nothing for you.' Some animals teach the skill of skepticism and doubt, but marsupial mole gives
the gift of the other side. Too much doubt dilutes our enjoyment of things that we cannot prove or
see; things like love, spiritual experiences, even knowing how the future will turn out. When Mole
is around, it is important to believe in what you feel, and not in what you can see. Trust your
instincts. It may be that you observe someone who seems trustworthy, but your instincts tell you
that you can't trust them. Likewise, it may be that opportunities may be better found not so
much through looking at the surface of things, but going deeper and trusting what your heart
wants, instead of what your head says is the right thing to do. Mole gave away one sense, so that
it may use others more wisely. The gift Mole teaches, is how to use our own senses wisely. How
honed are your senses? It is important to dive below the surface of whatever circumstances are
bothering you. Try and get a sense of what is going on beneath whatever you can see. Are you
able to trust in your own sight, smell, touch or taste, over the opinions or judgements of others?
Do you trust your own insights or instincts? It is important to know how to listen and
understand the information your senses give to you, so that you may turn a mismatch of
knowledge into wisdom and nourishment. When mole energy is around, be prepared for unusual
situations. They may be happenings that are unexplainable by science, or moments of
synchronicity that seem to only make sense when interpreted in context of ideas like 'fate.'

SCORPION- A potent message the Scorpion chooses to express is that of protection and/or
isolation. In fact, they themselves are quite solitary - part of the reason why they symbolize In
fact, many people with the Scorpion as their totem tend to have brief spells of passion with a
partner only to end the relationship and spend long periods content to be alone. The Scorpion will
mate in an exotic, dance of passion and control. The Scorpion sex dance is one of beauty, control,
and calculation. The female allows her new offspring to ride on her back until they shed their
first exoskeleton - then her offspring leaves her - all of them going off to their lone, solitary lives -
another example of intensity in relationship followed by isolation.
Defensiveness/control/protection is evident in the Scorpion's appearance - which seems to say "Do

missing out. If you are a high-achiever, Sloth is likely NOT your life spirit animal! And I’m not
suggesting that you force-adopt Sloth energy. I’m suggesting that you look to Sloth when your
fear of missing out emerges. Then you can borrow Sloth’s gift of knowing it’s where it is supposed
to be here in this moment. Does Sloth ever miss out? Yes. Of course. But is that missing out fatal?
